The proposed small camp resort, associated infrastructure and tourist facilities on Portion 152 of Farm 216, Knysna
Revised Draft Basic Assessment Report (BAR)
HilLand Environmental, independent Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPs), have been appointed by Brenton Cove represented by Mr R Neethling, to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA, No. 107 of 1998, as amended) and Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (2014, as amended).
The property is located in Brenton-on-Lake and the southern banks of Knysna Estuary where the railway bridge crosses the estuary.
The proposal entails the establishment of a small camping resort on the property which will involve the following:
- Twenty five (25) permanent wooden decks, each with a small bathroom will be constructed on which a more luxury tent will be erected, associated services, access track and grass parking will be provided.
- Existing structures will be renovated where required and used by the landowner or as tourist facilities.
- The small deck area will be added to the existing lapa at the pond and the lapa will act as the dining facility for the resort.
- Associated services as included in the reports
All infrastructure required for the tourism camping area is within existing transformed areas, avoiding all sensitive habitats.
