The proposed primary house and cottage on Portion 113 of Farm 216, Knysna
HilLand Environmental, independent Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAP) have been appointed by the Applicant, Ms A Crawford, to ensure compliance with the regulations contained in the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA, No 107 of 1998) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (as amended) for the proposed primary house and cottage on Portion 113 of Farm 216, Uitzicht, Knysna.
The proposal entails the construction of a primary home and cottage, and associated infrastructure and services on the property. Each building will be located within a “disturbance zone” that will provide sufficient space for associated infrastructure/services, driveway and garden areas. This ensures that everything beyond this “disturbance zone” remains natural and conserved as per the agreement to be entered into with SANParks.
Access to the primary home will be along a narrow driveway constructed from the existing southern servitude road and access to the cottage will be along a narrow driveway constructed from CR Swart in the north. The proposed driveways will be formalised by placing two strips of grass block pavers which will allow adequate access for construction vehicles/machinery during construction without causing erosion or widening of the track. These narrow driveways will have a minimal impact on the surrounding vegetation due to the proposed construction method and minimal width (less than 3.5m wide).
