Proposed Eco-Estate on the Remainder of Erf 220, Still Bay East
HilLand Environmental was appointed by the applicant, Still Bay Nature Resorts cc, represented by Mr Craig Thorne, to ensure compliance with the regulations contained in the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA, Act No. 107 of 1998, as amended) and the Environmental Assessment Regulations (2014, as amended) for the proposed eco-estate on the Remainder of Erf 220, Still Bay East, Hessequa Municipality (here after referred to as ‘the property’).
The 29.56ha property is located within the urban edge immediately West of the R305 road (MR332) on the western bank of the Goukou River, north of Still Bay central.
The houses will each have limited footprint of 300-350m2 each located within a demarcated disturbance zone of 700 m2. The remaining 350-400 m2 will consist of associated infrastructure, garden, fire management areas and fence.
The proposed indicative disturbance areas are showed on the site plan (preferred alternative). These positions have been considered and recommended by the specialists. The idea is to have the homes tucked away or blending in with the remaining natural vegetation on the property, with each footprint positioned in an area with existing disturbances.
*Please note that the site plan only highlights the indicative area set out for disturbance and house footprint as the exact locality will depend on the topography, vegetation present, design of the house etc.
Hessequa Municipality has confirmed availability of services and requested studies will follow. A traffic impact statement has been provided conserving the traffic impact of the proposal and it has been approved by Transport and Public Works.
The Final Basic Assessment Report (BAR) has been submitted to DEADP for their decision making purposes.
