Construction of a New Kanaal dam on Portion 12 of Farm, Kamanatieloop No. 139, Oudtshoorn

HilLand Environmental, independent Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPs), have been appointed by the applicant, Klein Karoo Saad Produksie (Pty) Ltd, represented by Mr D Malan (CEO & owner), to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Management Act of 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998), as amended, and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA, 2014) Regulations, as amended, for the proposed development of a new Kanaal dam on Portion 12 of the Farm 139 (Kamanatieloop), Oudtshoorn.

Klein Karoo Saad Produksie (Pty) Ltd intends to construct a dam to store allocated water in order to enhance the assurance of the supply of irrigation water demands on the existing 63 ha export seed plantations. The proposed development will entail the construction of a Kanaal dam in the middle-western side of the property, adjacent to the existing Bo Kanaal.

The following Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) will be available for a 30-day commenting period commencing 26 February 2021 (26 February 2021 – 29 March 2021). Please provide us with your comments / concerns relating to the proposed activity during the timeframe in written format via fax or email. Please note that you need to declare your interest in the above matter.
