Basic Assessment Report (BAR) – Project 28(4) MDRG

HilLand Environmental, independent Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAP) have been appointed by the Applicant, George Municipality, to ensure compliance with the regulations contained in the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA, No 107 of 1998, as amended) and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (as amended) for the maintenance of Municipal service infrastructure in Loerie Park, Bergsig, Denneoord, Denver Park and Eden, George Municipal area (Project 28(4) MDRG). 

DEADP determination is that new works within the Protected Area (Kat River Nature Reserve) and in areas falling outside the Urban Area (Mitchels River), will be view cumulatively and the combined earthworks required will exceed the minimum NEMA thresholds.

 As such the following sites fall within the NEMA area.

 

  • Sites 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 – outside the urban area and within the protected area

 

  • Sites 58 and 59 are outside the urban area, are not in a protected area

 

  • Site 61- outside the urban area.

 

  • Sites 62 and 63 – outside the urban area.

 

  • Sites 79 and 80 – are outside the urban area, are in a protected area.

The Draft BAR will be available for comment for the period 9 May 2024 to the 10 June 2024. Please provide us with your comments / concerns prior to the close of the comment period in written format via email (admin@hilland.co.za).
