The proposed expansion of Bramble Hill International School and Golf Academy

HilLand Environmental, independent Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPs), have been appointed by ISDO PROPERTIES (PTY) LTD and Bramble Hill International School represented by G Botes, to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA, No. 107 of 1998, as amended) and Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (2014, as amended).

The proposal entails the rezoning of the property, Portion 37 of Farm 233, to allow for a school and the expansion of the existing buildings to add more classrooms. Parking areas will be formalised, and the agricultural area (western side of the property) will be used for sports fields (currently used as a golf practice area).

Associated infrastructure:

  • Water – the school is connected to the existing Municipal supply line via the MOT pipeline that currently supplies the property. There is sufficient capacity to for the current and future potable water demand of the school in this line. Additional storage tanks will be installed for firefighting and irrigation purposes, roof water will be collected in addition to the above supply.
  • Sewer – The existing sewer conservancy tank and treatment infrastructure has sufficient capacity for the future estimated sewer flow.
  • Stormwater – Vegetated and dry swales need to be constructed in conjunction with the additional buildings and roadway to ensure that stormwater is properly managed on site and to mitigate the risk of flooding. A detailed stormwater management plan was prepared by Urban Engineering
  • Electricity – the property is connected to the existing Municipal supply which has capacity for the proposed expansion.
  • Traffic – the existing gates and entry need to be consolidated into a single gate for access as indicated in the TIA.
